Carden and Victorian Named Players of the Week

May 30, 2017
The Arena Football League announced today that Baltimore Brigade QB Shane Carden and DB Josh Victorian have been named Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, for their performances in the game on May 27 against the Cleveland Gladiators. Carden’s seven total touchdowns and Victorian’s clutch interception highlighted the Brigade’s 63-60 win over the Gladiators at Royal Farms Arena

Carden completed 21-30 passes for 272 yards and six touchdowns and added another score on the ground – a one-yard run with one second remaining in the first half. The East Carolina product, playing in his first AFL season, threw three touchdowns in a decisive fourth quarter that featured six lead changes, including a 42-yard strike to WR Paul Browning to give Baltimore a 49-46 lead with 6:21 remaining. Carden now ranks second in the AFL in passing yards per game (255.7) and third in total passing touchdowns (31).

Victorian tallied five solo tackles, one tackle for loss and a key interception with just under 10 minutes remaining in the game, halting Cleveland’s momentum and setting up the Brigade for a lead-stealing touchdown on the next play. Victorian ranks sixth in the AFL with 26 total tackles and is tied for second in the league with two interceptions.
